On 24th July 2025, Inauguration ceremony of the Eco Club of DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, was held, as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of our Higher Secondary School, under the theme: “Nurture Nature, Nature Nurtures.”
As part of the event, each class was assigned a specific category of plants to research and present.
The exhibits were evaluated by Retired Professor K.G. Hiremath (Dept. of Botany, Dhempe College, Panaji) and retired teacher Mrs. Rekha Gurala.
The results of the competition are as follows:
1st place– XII Science D (Ornamental Plants)
2nd place (Shared) –
XII Commerce C – Medicinal Plants
XII Science A – Seasonal Plants
3rd place– XII Commerce B Types of Money Plants.
A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour our school gardener, Mrs. Uma Gawas, in recognition of her sincere and dedicated service.
This was followed by an insightful talk by Retired Professor K.G. Hiremath on the topic “Basics of Gardening.”
Teachers in-charge were Mrs. Edna DaCosta and Eco club members.
