As part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, an assembly was conducted on 2nd September 2026 in the AV Room of DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, to commemorate the life, contributions and legacy of Birsa Munda, the renowned Tribal Freedom Fighter and Revolutionary Leader.
The programme was attended by the students of Std. XI Arts – Divisions A and B.
The session aimed to create awareness among students about Birsa Munda’s courageous struggle against the British rule and his efforts for the rights, dignity and welfare of Tribal communities.
During the session, important aspects of Birsa Munda’s life, his leadership, his role in the tribal resistance movement and his contribution to India’s freedom struggle were discussed.
The discussion also highlighted the values of courage, leadership, unity, self-respect and social justice reflected in his life and struggle.
The assembly provided students with an opportunity to learn about an important, yet often overlooked chapter of India’s freedom movement.
It also helped students appreciate the rich cultural heritage and contributions of tribal communities to the nation’s history.
The programme was informative and meaningful, and it successfully encouraged students to develop greater respect for India’s diverse historical and cultural heritage.
