As a part of the Stop Diarrhea Campaign initiated by SCERT Goa, students of DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, visited the Primary Health Centre, Chimbel, for an “Awareness session on Diarrhea prevention and Hygiene practices” on 5th August 2025.
The session was led by Dr. Namrat Gauns (NUHM), who guided our students with valuable information. She explained the causes of diarrhea, ways to prevent it, and the significance of hygiene in daily life. A key part of her session was a demonstration on how to prepare ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) at home during emergencies.
Dr. Gauns also emphasized the importance of hand hygiene, especially before meals. She used the “SUMANK” mnemonic to demonstrate the proper steps of handwashing in a memorable and engaging way.
Our students made posters highlighting the importance of clean water, hygiene, and ORS, performed role plays to communicate how to care for diarrhea patients at home and demonstrated how to prepare ORS using household ingredients.
