The students and teachers of DCT’S Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts, Science & Commerce, Cujira, embarked on an educational tour to Chikmanglur , Haleebedu, Bellur, Shravanbelagola, from 27 October, 2025 to 31 October, 2025.
A total of 64 students and 7 teachers boarded the Yesvantpur Express at Vasco station and arrived at Birur Junction in the early hours.
On the first day the group visited the beautiful Siri Statue , the scenic Shooting Gudda and the Honnamahala Falls. Later they trekked to Baba Budan Giri Hills, Z Point and Mullayangri Hills to enjoy the picturesque sunset.
The following morning the group headed to Belur to Yagachi Dam followed by a visit to the famous Channakeshava Temple,a masterpiece of Hoysala architecture and a significant historical and spiritual landmark. The guide explained on how there are more than 80 Madanika sculptures in the temple and the Gravity Pillar outside which is carved out of a single rock and stands on its own weight
The next stop on the itinerary was the Hoysaleswara Temple in Halebidu ,the guide explained on how it is poised on a star-shaped base, perhaps the largest Shiva temple built by the Hoysalas.
On the last day the group climbed 700 steps to view the magnificent Bahubali statue in Shravanabelagola, a 57-foot monolithic sculpture carved from a single block of granite.
The group then proceeded to board the Vasco da Gama Express and arrived at Margao railway station on 31 October, ending the tour on a sweet note and memories to cherish for a lifetime.
