On 26th September 2025, the students of Class XI Science of DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, along with teachers, Mr. Shravan Marathe and Ms. Rakhi Naik visited the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Dona Paula, to attend the 84th Foundation Day celebrations.
The program began with an exhibition where students were shown various artifacts recovered from the sea, mineral deposits, scientific instruments and underwater robots used in marine research. This was followed by a short film highlighting the history of NIO, its significant projects, and contributions to ocean science.
Later, an expert talk on oceanography was conducted, which gave valuable insights into the importance of oceans, current research areas and their impact on the environment. The session also included career guidance for students interested in pursuing higher studies and research in the field of oceanography and related sciences.
