As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration, the ICT Department of DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, organized an Exhibition and Interactive Session on “Mind Meets Machine – Exploring AI in Everyday Life” on 10th September 2025.
The program began on an exciting note when a robot welcomed the Principal Mrs. Maya Sardessai, Vice Principal Mrs. Amelia Barreto and the Guest Speaker Mrs. Melissa Rodrigues, showing the power of technology in action.
The function was compered by Ms. Josephine Araujo, who also introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Melissa Rodrigues, Asst. Assistant Professor of Computer Science at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
Principal Mrs. Maya Sardessai appreciated the students of Std. XI for their teamwork and creativity in preparing the exhibits. She was especially impressed with the live robot demonstration, which she said reflected how far we have moved from traditional learning to embracing modern technologies that are shaping the future. She also noted that the exhibits and live demos truly captured the spirit of the theme “Mind Meets Machine – Exploring AI in Everyday Life.” Students displayed their work through charts, posters, and models, and gave live demonstrations of chat bots and robots to show how people and machines can talk to each other.
The highlight of the day was an inspiring session by Mrs. Melissa Rodrigues on “AI Tools – Supercharge Your Everyday Life.” In her presentation, she
- Explained in simple terms what AI is – machines that can learn, think, and improve.
- Showed how we already use AI daily through Google Assistant, Siri, Netflix, YouTube, Gmail, and Google Maps.
- Shared useful AI tools for studying like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Lens, Grammarly, QuillBot, and Wordtune.
- Introduced creative AI tools such as DALL·E, Bing Image Creator, Canva, and MusicLM.
- Reminded students to use AI safely and wisely.
She encouraged everyone to see AI as a helper, not a replacer, and to use it in a smart and responsible way.
On the occasion, the group leaders of each student team were awarded certificates of appreciation for their efforts in preparing creative exhibits and presenting live demonstrations on AI.
The program was co-ordinated by Computer Teachers Mrs. Celina Fernandes, Mr. Vishal Bandekar, and Ms. Josephine Araujo. This session offered students an insight into the future of technology inspiring to use AI creatively and responsibly in everyday life.
